CHILDREN’S AUTISM APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS SERVICES
Autism Treatment/Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Services are for children on the autism spectrum up to age twenty-two and can be provided through private or public insurance or private payment sources. ABA services may be provided by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA), and certified Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT).
ABA is derived from the principles of behavior and utilizes evidence-based practices to decrease challenging behaviors, increase desired behaviors and teach skills, such as communication, play, social, academic, and self-regulation. Interventions may include responding to desired behaviors (i.e. reinforcement), responding to challenging behaviors (i.e. prompting, extinction), preventative strategies (i.e. visual supports, choices), communication strategies (i.e. verbal behavior), alternative behaviors (i.e. functionally equivalent) and skill development (i.e. Discrete Trial Teaching, Incidental Teaching).
